How to PLAY RAW

New PLAY RAW Competition

Open the raw file in RawTherapee, apply the Neutral profile, set bounding box size to 900x900 px and save it as playraw__neutral.jpg
Go to sftp://rawthe01@rawtherapee.com/home/rawthe01/public_html/shared/play
Create a folder named playraw and upload both the raw file, with filename playraw_., and the playraw__neutral.jpg file.
Create a new thread in Board index > RawTherapee user forums > PLAY RAW competitions titled PLAY RAW with the following content:

About two weeks from today I will stop accepting submissions, create a poll and then open voting for another two weeks, so that you will be able to see all of the submitted images and vote for your favorite.

[size=150][color=blue][b]NOTICE[/b][/color][/size] The images will be displayed in a gallery with a dark gray background color. Keep this in mind when you develop the photo, as the brightness of the canvas background plays a role on how bright and how much contrast the photo should have. Photos with subtle tones tweaked using a dark theme in RawTherapee lose all their subtleties when viewed against a glaring bright background - this dark gray canvas should prevent that.

New PLAY RAW Poll

Move all relevant emails into a PLAY RAW label.
Download all photos to local disk, making sure that all image and PP3 filenames match and are correct.
Compress all PP3 files to playraw_pp3.7z
Go to sftp://rawthe01@rawtherapee.com/home/rawthe01/public_html/shared/play
Go to the corresponding playraw folder and upload all JPG and PP3 files and the PP3 7z archive from your local disk.
Go to http://imgur.com/ and try not to click on funny cats.
Upload all JPG files.
Create an album, give it the RawTherapee PLAY RAW album title.
Make the album horizontal.
Once uploading has finished, click on “Edit titles / descriptions” and name each picture according to the person who made it. You can sort them by filename in the album settings. Confirm your changes.
Create a new thread in Board index > RawTherapee user forums > PLAY RAW competitions titled PLAY RAW voting with the following content, replacing the code in the [imgur][/imgur] tag with the one from the url of your imgur album:

If you think your version looks best, you may vote for your own.

You don’t have to, but it would be nice if you did comment below providing a description of why your image looks the way it does, what you wanted to achieve, what RawTherapee tricks you used and what problems you experienced, etc.

For best results, use a calibrated monitor and a color profile-aware image viewer. If you don’t have a calibrator and are serious about photography, look into getting one.
